Concerto Palatino
Wim Becu was born in Berchem (Belgium). His first musical mentors, Koen Becu and Bruno Boey, introduced him to a hitherto unfamiliar world of "early music". This would later have a profound influence upon his musical development. In 1982, after completing his studies at the Royal Conservatories of Antwerp and The Hague, he began to collaborate with the Huelgas Ensemble. Thanks to his inexhaustible enthusiasm for studying and learning to play the many historic "trombones", he is now active in numerous renowned ensembles and orchestras. His repertoire covers late mediaeval to romantic music. He has made more than 100 CD recordings, and participated in numerous concerts togehter with his colleagues from Concerto Palatino. As an educator hes enjoys sharing his experience with his students in Antwerpen and at the Musikhochschulen of Aachen and Trossingen. He has given master classes and courses in Belgium, Germany, Spain, the United States, and at the CNS de Lyon.
